Divided into five duchies, Adesia has always been more commonly known as the Land of Five. Five different families rule over their own separate courts, competing with one another for land, wealth, and popularity. But rising from obscurity has come Lord Ambrose Beauchamp, a militaristic upstart whose ambition has carried him far and high - to be the first self-proclaimed king of Adesia. Backed by a loyal military of volunteers and mercenaries alike, Ambrose stormed the neutral land and claimed it for his own. The only duchy with a full standing army that could have challenged his claim was Benthey, Ambrose's native duchy. But for reasons unknown to the other dukes and duchesses, Duchess Elspeth Launcelyn, instead of leading her troops against Ambrose, pledged her troops to his service. With an army double the size of any the other duchies could hope to raise, Ambrose was above defeat.
